BIRGIT EDELBAUER-HEISS

COSTUME DESIGN

Born in Schwaz, she attended the technical college for applied painting in Innsbruck and continued her studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg, specializing in stage and costume design. After graduating in 1992, she worked as an assistant set designer at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. This was followed by her own projects as a stage and costume designer, and from 1996 to 1998 she was head of the costume department at the Tiroler Landestheater. After spending several years in Hanover, she returned to Tyrol in 2005 and worked primarily as an interior and furniture designer, but also continued to work as a stage and costume designer, including for the Schlossspiele Mitterhart/Vomp and at Ehrenberg Castle in Reutte. She designed the costumes for Enrique Gasa Valga's productions of The Tempest, Romy Schneider, Lorca, The Great Gatsby, Lágrimas Negras, Der Fall Wagner and Frida - Pasión por la vida.
